Odor control

Odor control for waste transfer stations

Odour complaints come from the boundary, but odour is generated in specific places. Treat the sources on a cycle and the boundary looks after itself.

Zone by odour source, not by site area

The tipping hall, the loading bay and the perimeter have completely different odour loads and different duty requirements.

  • Tipping hall: highest load, treated most often, often continuously during operating hours
  • Loading bay and bunker: cyclic treatment timed with vehicle activity
  • Perimeter: light cyclic operation, mainly to protect the boundary
  • Wash-down and drainage areas: treated on a separate cycle to control the persistent sources

Cyclic operation is what makes it economic

Dilution of 1:200–1:500 means the deodorant is a real running cost, so running it flat out all day is the fastest way to make an odour system unaffordable. Cyclic zoned operation — with the dosing unit holding the ratio steady — keeps consumption in the published 0.5–3 L/h band while keeping the boundary neutral.

Retrofit and integration

These systems are normally retrofits: nozzle lines fix to existing walls, columns and roof structure, and the pump room fits into an existing plant space. Sensors at the boundary can trigger extra treatment on peak odour days, and the controller can be interlocked with door or vehicle signals so treatment follows activity.

Questions

Common questions — Odor control

Will it eliminate odour completely?

No system does. Fixed atomisation substantially reduces perceived odour and the ammonia levels driving complaints — our published figure for the deodorant stage is ammonia reduction ≥ 85% — but the honest scope is compliant operation plus fewer complaints, not zero smell.

Which deodorant can we use?

Whatever is approved in your jurisdiction and compatible with the nozzle set. We supply the dosing hardware and, for chemistry we ship, the safety data sheet. Tell us what you already use and we will confirm compatibility.

Can it run automatically?

Yes — timer schedules, boundary sensor triggers and interlocks with doors or vehicles are all available, and zoning is standard.
