Backyard mosquito misting in Florida and the southern US

In the south the mosquito season is not a season — it is most of the year, and the yard is where people live. A perimeter system is what makes evenings outside the norm rather than the exception.

Dense planting and lanais change the layout

This is not a landscape where you can see the boundary. Tubing is run at low level behind beds and along the fence, and nozzles are positioned to treat the air in the seating and pool areas rather than to soak the planting. Screened lanais usually need the perimeter treated on the outside faces and the doorway approach, and we plan that with the customer rather than guessing from a satellite image.

Scheduling for a long, wet season

Rain drives mosquito activity here as much as time of day, so a rigid clock is the wrong control. We recommend a rain pause plus short cycles on the dawn and dusk windows — the published pattern is 5–10 minutes every 2–4 hours — with the frequency increased for a few days after heavy rain and backed off in dry spells.

Neighbours, pets and paperwork

Three practical matters decide whether an installation is a pleasure or a problem:

  • Nozzles point inward, so the treatment stays on your property — this matters in close-built neighbourhoods and with HOA rules.
  • Concentrate is stored locked, diluted exactly as labelled (1:50–1:100 for the systems we supply), and the safety data sheet for any chemistry shipped is supplied with it.
  • Cycles are scheduled for hours the yard is normally empty, with the manual override placed where children cannot reach it. If you keep bees or have a fish pond, tell us at survey stage.

Questions

Common questions — North America

How many cycles per day do we need in summer?

Most yards run two to four cycles, concentrated at dawn and dusk, with extra frequency after rain. The exact schedule is set at commissioning based on your yard, planting and mosquito pressure.

Can it be added to an existing irrigation or pool area?

Yes — tubing is independent of irrigation lines, and nozzles are placed away from pool splash zones and equipment. Tell us about the pool and irrigation layout at survey stage.

What maintenance does it need?

Filter cleaning, an annual nozzle check and a seasonal flush. Nozzles have a published service life of two years or more; keep a spare set so a failed nozzle is not a service call.
