Mosquito control

What does a backyard mosquito misting system cost?

Price follows the perimeter you are defending and the number of cycles you want per day — not the size of the house.

What you are actually paying for

Four things, and none of them is the house.

  • Perimeter length, not area: nozzles run along the boundary — fences, walls, planting beds — so a long narrow garden needs more nozzles than a square one of the same size.
  • Cycle frequency: two cycles a day is a small tank and a small unit; six cycles a day in peak season needs a bigger tank and more concentrate per month.
  • Zoning: a garden split into two zones (front and back) costs more in valves but lets you treat the area in use and halve consumption.
  • Who installs it: tubing along fences and beds is a one-day job; burying lines under finished paving is not.

Running cost, honestly

There are two running costs and it helps to separate them. Water is negligible at this scale. Concentrate is the real number: a system uses 0.3–2 L/h of diluted mixture per hour of operation, and the label dilution is 1:50–1:100, so a two-cycle schedule in a mid-size garden uses a modest amount of concentrate per month. Your quotation states the tank size and the monthly consumption estimate so you can price the chemicals yourself.

Before you buy: four checks

These are the questions that decide whether an installation works or becomes a maintenance burden.

  • Where does the tank and pump go? They need a sheltered spot with a water point and power.
  • What concentrate is approved in your country, and does the nozzle set suit it? Unsuitable chemistry is the most common cause of clogged nozzles.
  • Can you get spare nozzles of the same type later? If the answer is no, you will redo the pipework.
  • Are there beehives, ponds or edible crops nearby? These change placement and timing, and a supplier who does not ask is a supplier to avoid.

Questions

What does a backyard mosquito misting system cost — the questions behind it

Do I need a tank, or can it connect to mains water?

Most garden systems use a tank because the concentrate has to be diluted. Where mains connection is possible, an inline dosing unit can be used instead. The quotation states which arrangement is included.

How long does a tank last?

It depends on treated area and cycles per day. Tell us the garden area and how many cycles you want, and the quotation gives the tank volume and a monthly consumption estimate.

Can I install it myself?

We supply installation drawings, a nozzle layout plan and a commissioning guide, and support installation by video call. Many customers install the tubing themselves and have a technician make the final connection.
