Mosquito control before and after the monsoon

The monsoon does not create more mosquitoes — it creates more breeding places. Perimeter misting deals with the adults arriving from them, on a schedule.

The honest division of labour

No misting system replaces source control. Standing water must go: tanks, coolers, tyres, blocked drains, plant saucers. What a perimeter system adds is protection of the space you actually use — the courtyard, the terrace, the seating area — during the hours when mosquitoes are active.

Cycle timing matters more than cycle length

Mosquito activity peaks around dawn and dusk and spikes after rain. Three short cycles placed on those windows do more than one long afternoon run, and use less concentrate. The published pattern for our systems is 5–10 minutes every 2–4 hours, with 15–40 μm droplets so the mist carries the repellent rather than evaporating instantly.

Family use: what to set and what to check

Where children, elderly family members or pets use the garden, these are the practical arrangements we recommend and set up at commissioning.

  • Schedule cycles for when the area is normally empty; keep the manual override locked or inconvenient to reach.
  • Keep concentrate locked, and never mix stronger than the label dilution (1:50–1:100 for the systems we supply).
  • Point nozzles inward from the boundary and away from play equipment, pet bowls and water storage.
  • Ask us for the safety data sheet for any chemistry shipped and follow its re-entry guidance.

Questions

Common questions — India & South Asia

Does misting work during heavy rain?

Cycles during heavy rain are largely wasted, so we recommend a rain pause: a simple rain sensor stops the schedule while it is raining and resumes afterwards, which also saves concentrate.

Is it safe with water storage and open tanks on the property?

Tell us about them at survey stage. Nozzle placement, timing and sometimes the choice of formulation are adjusted, and drinking-water storage is always kept out of the spray path.

How do we handle mosquitoes coming from a neighbour or a drain?

That is exactly the case perimeter treatment addresses: the system defends your boundary, so activity originating outside has to cross a treated zone to reach your seating area.
