Poultry house cooling in Vietnam and the Mekong heat

Vietnam combines high temperature with high humidity — the hardest condition for evaporative cooling. It still works, but the layout and control have to respect that.

Open-sided houses need a different layout

Many Vietnamese broiler and layer houses are open-sided rather than tunnel-ventilated. Fog released centrally will drift out of the side openings, so nozzles are placed along the ridge and along the upwind side, aimed inward and slightly downward, and the system runs with whatever natural airflow the house has. This is a layout question, not a hardware question, and it is why we ask for a photo of the house rather than only its dimensions.

Control humidity, or you will add to the problem

Adding water to already-humid air can push birds into a worse comfort zone. The controllers we supply read humidity and throttle the system back as it rises, so the installation helps in the hot dry hours of the afternoon and stays out of the way when the air is saturated.

  • Humidity-linked cycling rather than a fixed clock
  • Zone by house, because age and density differ
  • Back-off during the wet season, with the schedule adjusted rather than switched off
  • Clean, filtered water — biofilm and iron are common issues in this region

Litter is the test of a good installation

If the litter stays dry, the system is specified and controlled correctly. If it does not, the cause is almost always droplet size or nozzle placement — coarse spray wets the floor, and the ammonia and foot problems follow. Our units run at 1–15 μm specifically so the water evaporates in the air rather than landing.

Questions

Common questions — Southeast Asia

Is fogging worth it in a humid climate?

Yes, in the right hours and with the right control. It contributes most in the early afternoon when temperature is highest, and the humidity-linked controller stops it adding moisture when the air is already saturated.

Can one pump serve several houses?

Yes, with solenoid zoning. Each house runs its own schedule, and water is only drawn by the houses that are misting — which is what keeps consumption predictable.

What about water quality from our own borehole?

Send a description of the water (hardness, iron, silt) with the enquiry. Fine nozzles need filtration — 5 μm as standard — and in some cases pre-treatment; it is far cheaper to design for that than to fix it later.
