Cooling poultry sheds through the Indian summer

India loses birds to heat every year, and the loss is not evenly spread — it concentrates in the afternoon hours when air temperature peaks and ventilation alone stops coping.

Why fans and pads reach their limit

Pad-and-fan systems cool by evaporation through a wet pad, and their performance falls as humidity rises — which is exactly what an Indian monsoon-season afternoon does. Fogging puts water into the shed air directly, so it cools wherever air moves, not only where the pad is.

The droplet size decision

A fogging system is only safe for litter if the droplets evaporate in the air. ours run at 1–15 μm; coarse spray for the same purpose wets the floor, increases ammonia and creates the foot problems growers already fight.

  • Fog into the incoming air path, not over the birds.
  • Zone by shed so different houses run different duty.
  • Humidity-linked control: when relative humidity is already high, the controller throttles back instead of adding water.

Water quality, which is usually the real problem

Borehole water with high hardness, iron or silt destroys fine nozzles quickly. Every system we ship for shed cooling includes inlet filtration (5 μm) and a cleaning interval; where water is very hard we recommend pre-treatment, and we will say so before you order rather than after the nozzles block.

Questions

Common questions — India & South Asia

How much cooling can we realistically expect?

In hot, dry inland conditions, 5–10 °C reduction in perceived temperature in the treated zone is the working figure. In humid coastal conditions expect less, because the air cannot take up as much moisture — we will state the realistic expectation for your location before you order.

Will the mist reach the birds at shed level?

With the nozzles mounted in the air path and the sheds arranged as we recommend, the mist moves with the ventilation air. Layout is drawn from your shed dimensions and ventilation arrangement.

Can we dose disinfectant through the same system?

Sometimes, where the additive is approved for the application and compatible with the nozzle set. Tell us the product and we will confirm filtration and dilution requirements.
